Day 114: Surface Area of Pyramids / Spheres
In Math 6 today, Mr. Giomini posted and shared a video to help students with Lesson 7.6. Lesson 7.7: Area of Pyramids was introduced. Students analyzed the nets of the triangle based pyramid as well as the square based pyramid to help identify the different types of areas needed in order to calculate the surface area.
Math 6+ students worked with the surface area of pyramids as well as spheres. Time was provided in class to work on evening practice in an attempt to catch any misunderstandings before students left class.
Today's lesson objective(s):
Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles.
Use the nets to find the surface area of these figures.
Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
