Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students continued their work with ratios by working more with proportions. Mr. Giomini modeled how to set-up proportions from real-world scenarios to find missing information. Students then worked in pairs to complete additional practice problems.
During Math 6 - 2°, students completed a Socrative Space Race dealing with independent and dependent variables.
Students in Math 6+ completed a Socrative dealing with minke whales and proportions to help solidify their understanding of writing and solving proportions from given information.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- understand the concept of a ratio. (1, 3, and 7°)
- use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. (1,3, and 7°)
- use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems. (7°)
- analyze the relationship between dependent and independent variables. (2°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:

- Math 6(2°): Page 231
- Math 6+: Digital handout - Numbers 56 - 61 (CLICK HERE)
- All Classes: m > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
