Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students reviewed how to write and solve proportions from real-world scenarios. Mr. Giomini then assigned the students Challenge 5.2: "What's in the Set?" for independent practice. Students then checked their work with a colleague.
During Math 6 - 2°, students were introduced to Lesson 5.2: Patterns and Equations. In this lesson, students analyzed simple patterns in tables and wrote rules and equations to describe the relationship between the dependent and independent variables in real-world contexts.
Students in Math 6+ worked with unit conversions and dimensional analysis problems such as the ones introduced to students last week with a model airplane and converting its speed from miles per hour to feet per second.
Mr. Giomini modeled a few problems for the students before they worked on some independently traveling around the room. Answers were provided at each station supplying students with immediate feedback.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems. (1, 3, and 7°)
- analyze the relationship between dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables. (2°)
- use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another. (2°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
- Math 6(1&3°): Page 27
- Math 6(2°): Page 235 (5 - 8) and Patterns and Equations - Quick Check (Due Wednesday)
- Math 6+: Page 65
- All Classes: m > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
