Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students extended yesterday's work with adding and subtracting fractions to include work with mixed numbers. As was the case yesterday, students were encouraged to first make estimates before computing a final answer.
During Math 6 - 2°, students continued their work on preparing for Friday's Topic Three: Rational Numbers posttest.
Students in Math 6+ worked with different concepts from Operations with Rational Numbers. Mr. Giomini divided the students up into groups of three. Then, students were provided several small tasks to complete. Finally, students presented their end product to their peers for evaluation.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- use visual fraction models to represent problems. (7°)
- understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values. (2°)
- understand ordering and absolute value of rational numbers. (2°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
- Math 6(1&3) - Page 35
- Math 6(2): Study for Topic Three posttest
- Math 6+: Page 34
- All Classes: m > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
