Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students were introduced to multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. Students worked collaboratively to calculate products to several problems and then checked with an answer key provided my Mr. Giomini.
During Math 6 - 2°, students completed a Quick Check that dealt with content from the previous three day's lessons. Later, students worked with others to work on organizing rational numbers in order from least to greatest.
Students in Math 6+ continued their work on the Challenge Day problems from yesterday. Students then shared their algorithms with their colleagues.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation. (1 & 3°)
- use a rational number as a point on a number line. (2°)
- understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values. (2°)
- recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line. (2°)
- use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts. (2°)
- solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of mixed numbers of fractions by fractions. (7°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:

- Math 6 - 2°: Understand Integers Quick Check
- Math 6+: Page 23
- All Classes: m > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
