Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students completed a Quick Check dealing with adding and subtracting positive and negative decimals. This is a skill that was assessed yesterday and practiced for several days.
The focus for today's lesson was dividing decimals when a decimal was present in the divisor and dividend. Students learned how to multiply to eliminate the decimal in the divisor and mirror that calculation in the dividend.

During Math 6 - 2°, students completed a Quick Check dealing with integers. Once that was completed, Mr. Giomini introduced placing and ordering rational numbers on a number line. Students arranged various rational numbers on a number in order from least to greatest.
Students in Math 6+ completed a Quick Check dealing with multiplying mixed numbers that were both positive and negative. Adding and subtracting mixed numbers was then introduced and practiced in class.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation. (1 & 3°)
- use a rational number as a point on a number line. (2°)
- understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values. (2°)
- recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line. (2°)
- use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts. (2°)
- solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of mixed numbers of fractions by fractions. (7°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
