Class Topics: 09.16.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students checked their Evening Practice from Monday night with an answer key provided by Mr. Giomini.  Students were reminded about Thursday's quiz that will cover lessons 2.1 - 2.6.

Lesson 2.6: Least Common Multiple was introduced, modeled, and practiced in class.  Mr. Giomini discussed the question posted below as an example for how today's skill is applied outside of the classroom.

A local radio station is having a contest in which every 4th caller receives a $30.00 iTunes gift card
and every 7th caller receives four free tickets to an upcoming Iggy Azalea concert. Which caller will be the first to receive both prizes?

• compute fluently with multidigit numbers.
• evaluate exponential notation.
• find the least common multiple for numbers less than or equal to 12.

• complete pages 18 and 19 in Chapter Two.
