Class Topics: 05.22.14

Common Core Math Six students in 1 and reviewed their Evening Practice from Lesson 12.8: Set Theory.  Mr. Giomini then assigned the students into groups to work on a mathematical opportunity.

The Candle Problem
During 2°, students continued their work with Lesson 11.5: Solving Inequalities with Addition and Subtraction.  In class, students created graphs on the floor to model different inequalities.

In 4°, students reviewed for a quiz on slope and slope-intercept form.  Class then completed a short quiz.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  •  -
    • use set notation.
    • identify relationships between sets.
  •  -
    • read an inequality.
    • solve an inequality that involves addition and subtraction.
    • graph an inequality.
  • 3° -
    • use set notation.
    • identify relationships between sets.
  •  -
    • determine the slope of a line.
    • interpret slope-intercept form.
    • graph a line given one point, the y-intercept, and the slope.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
