Class Topics: 05.20.14

Common Core Math Six students in  began class by completing another Socrative to help us with slope and slope-intercept form.  Due to a class meeting during Advisory, Mr. Giomini allowed students to begin on their Evening Practice that is derived from yesterday's Lesson 12.7.

During 2°, students began Lesson 11.5: Solving Inequalities with Addition and Subtraction.  Mr. Giomini decided not to begin this lesson yesterday due to the struggles with the Socrative quiz.  Some students worked in a small group to help with yesterday's Khan Skill.

In , students  began Lesson 12.7: Rates of Change.  The concepts of constant and varying rates of change were introduced, modeled, and discussed.  Students were given class time to complete their Evening Practice.

In 4°, students reviewed the content from the Chapter Twelve Midpoint Quiz.  Mr. Giomini had students work with Lesson 12.6: Nonlinear Functions.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  •  -
    • learn to identify nonlinear functions.
    • determine rates changes by analyzing a table and graph.
  •  -
    • read an inequality.
    • solve an inequality that involves addition and subtraction.
    • graph an inequality.
  • 3° -
    • learn to identify nonlinear functions.
    • determine rates changes by analyzing a table and graph.
  •  -
    • determine the slope of a line.
    • interpret slope-intercept form.
    • graph a line given one point, the y-intercept, and the slope.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1°
    • complete 1-17 and 21-29 on pages 634 and 635.  (CLICK HERE)
