Class Topics: 05.15.14

Common Core Math Six students in  reviewed the results for their Chapter Twelve Midpoint Quiz before moving into Lesson 12.6: Nonlinear Functions.

The parabola has many important applications, from a parabolic antenna or parabolic microphone to automobile headlight reflectors to the design of ballistic missiles. They are frequently used in physicsengineering, and many other areas.

During 2°, students continued their work with solving multistep equations.  Students broke into groups to work on two different skills related to solving equations with variables on both sides.  One group worked with Khan while the other worked with work problems that incorporated multistep equations.

In , students reviewed content from Lessons 12.1 - 12.5 in preparation for Friday's Chapter Twelve Midpoint Quiz.  Several students were absent yesterday due to concert practice which is why Mr. Giomini is pushing back the assessment date.

In, students spent time reviewing slope-intercept form with a colleague in preparation for Monday's Chapter Twelve Midpoint Quiz. Several students were absent yesterday due to concert practice which is why Mr. Giomini is pushing back the assessment date.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  •  -
    • learn to identify nonlinear functions.
    • generate instances where a function would be nonlinear.
    • graph a nonlinear function.
  •  -
    • simplify multistep equations.
    • solve multistep equations.
    • solve multistep equations.
  • 3° -
    • create a function to model a sequence.
    • determine the slope of a line.
    • interpret slope-intercept form.
    • graph a line given one point, the y-intercept, and the slope.
  •  -
    • determine the slope of a line.
    • interpret slope-intercept form.
    • graph a line given one point, the y-intercept, and the slope.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
