Class Topics: 05.13.14

Common Core Math Six students in spent time reviewing slope-intercept form with a colleague in preparation for tomorrow's Chapter Twelve Midpoint Quiz.

During 2°, students continued their work with solving multistep equations.  Today, yesterday's review lesson was extended when working with Lesson 11.3: Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides.

In , students reviewed last night's Evening Practice before moving into Lesson 12.5: Slope.  During this lesson, Mr. Giomini modeled how to measure the steepness of a line, its slope, using the ratio rise over run. Class also connected Lesson 12.4 with Lesson 12.5 when looking at a linear equation in slope-intercept form.

Students in  made inquires about last night's Evening Practice.  Mr. Giomini then introduced and modeled Lesson 12.4: Linear Functions for the students.  Class learned about linear equations and linear functions.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  •  -
    • determine the slope of a line.
    • interpret slope-intercept form.
    • graph a line given one point, the y-intercept, and the slope.
  •  -
    • simplify multistep equations.
    • solve multistep equations.
    • solve multistep equations.
  • 3° -
    • determine the slope of a line.
    • interpret slope-intercept form.
    • graph a line given one point, the y-intercept, and the slope.
  •  -
    • use a linear function to complete a table.
    • identify linear equations.
    • graph a linear function.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
