Class Topics: 09.25.13

In Common Core Math Six, students in 1, 3, and  had their first introduction into variables with Lesson 2.7: Variables and Algebraic Expressions.  Terms that were introduced today include: variable, constant, algebraic expression, and evaluate.  Students worked with peers to complete Lesson 2.7 Practice B.  Mr. Giomini then assigned the Problem Solving or Challenge to students based on their confidence with the topic.

Students in  were introduced to Lesson 2.4: Prime Factorization.  This lesson required that students know their multiplication facts and the difference between prime and composite numbers.  Once the topic was introduced, students worked in small assigned groups to complete Practice B for Lesson 2.4.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  • substitute given values into an algebraic expression.  ( 1, 3, and )
  • evaluate algebraic expressions.  ( 1, 3, and )
  • determine the prime factorization of numbers greater than 10 and less than 200.  ()
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete...
