Class Topics: 08.29.13

Today in Common Core Math Six, students checked over their Evening Practice from last night and saw Mr. Giomini's histogram that he constructed from yesterday's set of data.  Lesson 1.5: Reading and Interpreting Circle Graphs was introduced by creating a poll question for all of the students to answer and then constructing a circle graph from the data.

Based on our pretest results, a larger part of the lesson consisted of us looking at a circle graph and the total number of people who voted in a survey to determine how many people selected a specific category, converting a known percent into a raw number when knowing the size of the sample.
Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • calculate a number when given a percent of a whole.
  • read and interpret information from a circle graph.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • P1 and P3 - answer questions 6-15 and 18 on pages 26 and 27.
  • P2: Khan Skill - Fractions to Decimals (CLICK HERE)
  • P4 - complete Lesson 1.5 Practice B and Problem Solving.  (CLICK HERE)
