Class Topics: 08.28.13

In Common Core Math Six today, students were introduced to and practiced skills from Lesson 1.4 - Bar Graphs and Histograms.  Mr. Giomini focused on the histogram portion of this lesson because that skill was missed by a high percentage of students on the pretest.

After modeling how to construct a histogram using testing data from third period, students worked with a colleague to organize data into a frequency table and then transfer that information into histogram.
Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • read information given on a histogram.
  • organize and display data in a histogram.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • complete Lesson 1.4 Problem Solver. (CLICK HERE)
  • construct a frequency table and histogram from the data given below:
    • [3, 11, 12, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 29, 35, 36, 37, 45, 49]
      • You must have a minimum of four buckets/bins.
What inferences can be made based on the data
distribution in this histogram?
