The focus for today was on identifying outliers and what effect, if any, they have when looking at the measures of central tendency and spread. Students were given various data sets and had to determine which measure best represented the data and explain why to colleagues.
Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
- explain the three ways that the distribution of a set of data can be described: by its center, spread and overall shape.
- describe the center of a set of data in terms of mean, median, and mode.
- describe the spread of a set of data in terms of clusters, gaps, and outliers.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
- P1 and P3 - answer questions 6, 7, 8b, 10a & b, 11 - 14 on pages 12 and 13.
- P2 and P4 - complete Lesson 1.2 Practice B and Problem Solving. (CLICK HERE)
