Class Topics: 08.26.13

In Common Core Math Six today, students received their scored Chapter One Pretests back.  Mr. Giomini showed them a question-by-question breakdown of how the class did as a whole on the assessment.
Students then began Lesson 1.1 - Populations and Samples.  In this lesson we introduced the terms: population, sample, and random sample.  Different types of candy were used to help explain the terms.
Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • identify populations and samples.
  • determine whether a sample is random or not.
  • explain what makes a good statistical question.
  • develop a question that can be used to collect statistical information.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • complete Lesson 1.1 Practice B and Problem Solving.  (Handout supplied by Mr. Giomini.)
  • begin studying for the Chapter One Midpoint Quiz which will cover Lessons 1.1 through Lesson 1.6.
