In Math Six today, students completed Day Two of the Unit Five Summative Posttest.  This wraps up Unit Five and we will begin discussing Unit Six tomorrow and pretest for it on Thursday.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...

1. add and subtract whole numbers.
2. multiply and divide whole numbers.
3. determine the area and perimeter of two-dimensional shapes.
4. justify an answer using words, numbers and pictures.
5. identify which measure most appropriately describes a situation.
6. calculate an angle's measure by using that polygon's known properties.

For Evening Practice, students are required to...

1. check GBW for their updated grade.
2. complete both questions below.

Alex found a wrecked Trans-Am that he could fix. He bought the car for 65% of the original price of $7200. What did he pay for the car? (Round to nearest dollar)

Ben earns $12,800 a year. About 15% is taken out for taxes. 

After taxes are removed, how much does Ben make a year?

In Pre-Algebra today, students received their Chapter Six Summative Posttest back in class.  Currently the class average is an 89% which is exciting.  More information will come later in the week about the test results as soon as students who were absent complete the assessment.

Once assessment results were viewed, students completed Probe II which helped us with justifying short answer and extended response questions as well reviewing previously learned material.

2. utilize test-taking strategies to answer various assessment questions.
