Class Topics: 01.14.13

In Math Six today, students received their Unit Five Midpoint Quiz back from last Thursday.  Lesson 5.4 - Coordinate Geometry was introduced including the terms: ordered number pair, rectangular coordinate grid, origin, axis, coordinate and midpoint.  Students reviewed how to plot points on a coordinate grid using the x and y-axis to guide their placement.

Once points were plotted, students developed an algorithm for calculating the midpoint to a line that was graphed on a coordinate plane.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. plot ordered number pairs.
  2. apply properties to polygons.
  3. explore the relationship between endpoints and midpoints.
For Evening Practice, it is suggested that the student...
  1. complete the problems that Mr. Giomini assigned on the blog on a separate piece of paper.
Evening Practice: All answers must be reduced to simplest terms.
In Pre-Algebra today, the students began their work with Lesson 6.6: Volume of Prisms and Cylinders.  Students added two additional formulas to their Formula Cards; one for the volume of prisms and the other for the volume of cylinders.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. use a formula to find the volume of prisms and cylinders.
For Evening Practice, it is suggested that the student...
