Class Topics: 01.10.13

In Math Six today, students completed their Unit Five Midpoint Quiz.  This assessment allowed the students to demonstrate their current level of understanding with the current topics that have been presented, practiced and applied up to this point in the unit.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. label angles appropriately.
  2. identify different geometric terms such as: line, line segment, ray and vertex.
  3. measure an angle using the appropriate tools.
  4. construct an angle using the appropriate tools when given a specific angle measure.
  5. calculate an angles complement or supplement depending on the construction.
For Weekend Practice, it is suggested that the student...
  1. check Gradebook Wizard for their updated grade and comments.
  2. complete the Guided Notes for Lesson 5.2 in their handout.

In Pre-Algebra today, students reviewed their Chapter Six Midpoint Quiz with Mr. Giomini.  This assessment was possibly the most challenging one that the students have encountered to this point.  It required a great deal of application of the concepts being introduced and practiced in class.

Once discussion of the midpoint quiz concluded, students were introduced to Lesson 6.5: Drawing Three-Dimensional Figures.  Students used isometric dot paper to sketch three dimensional shapes from both one-point and two-point perspective.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. integrate terms such as face, edge, vertex, perspective, vanishing point and horizon line into their conversations when talking about constructing three dimensional drawings.
  2. draw and identify the parts of a three-dimensional figures.
For Weekend Practice, it is suggested that the student...
  1. complete problems 10 - 24 and 31 - 35 on pages 305 and 306 (Use isometric dot paper.)
