Math 6 students continued their work with Lesson 7.1: Find Areas of Parallelograms and Rhombuses. During this lesson, the emphasis was two fold: 1. work to decompose and compose shapes 2. use equations to solve for the missing lengths or widths of quadrilaterals when the area was given.
Math 6+ students completed their Calculation Quiz and then used the remainder of the time to discuss their Topic Five Post-test.
Skills that were introduced, modeled, practiced, and informally/formally assessed today in class include:

Math 6+ students completed their Calculation Quiz and then used the remainder of the time to discuss their Topic Five Post-test.
Skills that were introduced, modeled, practiced, and informally/formally assessed today in class include:
Math 6:
- Find the area of special quadrilaterals.
- Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity).
- Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
- Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. (7th Grade)
