Day 101: Math 6: Topic Seven Started - Math 6+: Topic Five Post-test Continued

Math 6 students worked with Lesson 7.1: Find Areas of Parallelograms and Rhombuses. During this lesson, students extended their knowledge about areas of rectangles to develop the formula for area of a parallelogram.

Skills that were introduced, modeled, practiced, and informally/formally assessed today in class include:
Math 6:
  • Find the area of special quadrilaterals. 
Math 6+:
  • Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity). 
  • Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
  • Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. (7th Grade)
