Math 6+ students were introduced to simple interest. Students were allowed access to calculators for this skill.
Skills that were introduced, modeled, practiced, and informally/formally assessed today in class include:
Math 6:
- Write equivalent values as fractions, decimals, and percents.
- Write fractions as decimals and percents when the denominator of the fraction is not 100.
- Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity).
- Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
Math 6+:
- Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity).
- Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
- Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. (7th Grade)
