Day Three: Fluently Divide Whole Numbers and Decimals

Today in Math 6 and Math 6+, students worked with Lesson 1.2: Fluently Divide Whole Numbers and Decimals. Models where provided that incorporated decimals in both the divisor and dividend.

Students were encouraged to check their work by multiplying the quotient and divisor to get the dividend. The Multiplication Property of Equality was modeled and discussed to help with the understanding how to eliminate the decimal in the divisor. Mr. Giomini challenged the students to develop a new algorithm for division if they were able to while in class.
