Day 163: Solving Inequalities / Pretest / Solutions of Equations

Today in 1 and 3° Math 6, students worked with solving and graphing inequalities.  The challenge that students encounter is how to graph the inequality when one is either multiplying by a negative coefficient or dividing by a negative divisor.

In 2° Math 6, Mr. Giomini created short videos for students to help them in preparation for their Volume and Surface Area posttest.

Students in 7° Math 6+ worked with different equations/formulas and solved for missing variables.  The rationale is to develop fluency with solving multistep equations.

Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question. (1, 3, and 7°)
  • use substitution to determine whether a given number makes an equation or inequality true. ( 7°)
  • find the volume and surface area of a right rectangular prism. (2°)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1 and 3° -
    • Complete page 39.
    • Have 100% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by May 27th.
  • 2° -
    • Work on online assessment piece through Pearson.
    • Have 100% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by May 27th.
    • 7° -
      • Assignment coming soon.
      • Have 100% of 7th Grade Khan Skills mastered by May 27th.
    • All Classes: Complete at least 10 minutes of work on Khan Academy to help review old content, practice new material, or front-load future concepts.
