Class Topics: 10.09.13

In Common Core Math Six, students in 1, 3, and 4° reviewed absolute value and its application in Mathematics and for the chapter.  Mr. Giomini then introduced Lesson 3.2: The Coordinate Plane.  Students were paired together by Mr. Giomini on a partner project involving a coordinate grid and distributing emergency services to the country of Haiti after its earthquake in 2012.  

Students in 2° spent time reviewing the different skills that are assessed on tomorrow's Chapter Two posttest.  We did this by playing Jeopardy as class.

• describe and give examples of how positive or negative numbers are used to describe quantities having opposite directions or opposite values.   
•  recognize that positive and negative signs represent opposite values and/or directions.

• use the PEMDAS algorithm to solve order of operation problems.
• translate word phrases into algebraic expressions.
