In Math Six today, students received their Unit Eight Formative Pretest back.  Pretest averages are posted below; they were some of our highest of the year.  Mr. Giomini introduced and modeled Lesson 8.1 - Rates, Rate Tables and Unit Rates.  Students collaborated with an assigned peer to complete Math Journal pages 278 and 279 in class.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...

1. apply multiplication and division facts to find equivalent fractions.
2. use proportions to model, summarize and solve rate problems.
3. identify rules for patterns and use patterns and rate tables.
4. solve rate problems using unit rates and rate tables.

1. complete Math Journal pages 278, 279 and 280.

In Pre-Algebra today, students discussed last night's Evening Practice with a colleague and Mr. Giomini helped clarify any questions that still existed.  Mr. Giomini then introduced and modeled Lesson 9.8 - Odds.

2. convert between the probabilities and odds.
3. compare the odds in favor of an event with the odds against an event.
