In Math Six today, students constructed and analyzed stem-and-leaf plots.  We discussed which measure of central tendency most accurately represents a set of data.  Students worked in small pods of three to complete Math Journal page eleven.

3. decide which number more accurately represents a set of data.

For Evening Practice, students CAN...

1. construct a stem-and-leaf plot at home using data from the blog.
• data: Scores of Browns' Games: 7, 3, 14, 24, 32, 21, 9, 12, 20, 17, 17, 10, 13, 0, 3 and 5
2. develop an inference as to how the Browns did in those sixteen games.
3. explain your inference.
4. bring in Unit One Pre-test.

In Pre-Algebra today, students were introduced to Lesson 1-3: Solving Equations by Adding and Subtracting.  We discussed a plan of attack: simplify, isolate, solve and check.  Students were then assigned several problems to solve and check with a partner in class.  These problems were recorded into their graphing notebooks.  

Today's Learning Intentions: The student will be able to...

1. simplify an equation if needed.
2. isolate the variable to one side of the equation.
3. evaluate the equation.
4. check to make sure that their solution balances the equation.

1. complete the Lesson Quiz pictured below.
2. enter answers into the Google Form.
3. view Khan Video in preparation for tomorrow's lesson.
4. bring in Chpt One Pre-test.
