Class Topics: 04.17.12

In EDM today, students reviewed their homework, Math Box 8.5, with Mr. Giomini.  Once that was completed, we modeled setting up and solving proportions more thoroughly using a Khan Practice Skill.  We practiced a two and four point response question that would fall under the Data Analysis and Probability Standard.

3. create a proportion to solve for a missing variable.
4. design a appropriate graph based on a given situation.

In Pre-Algebra today, students reflected on their Probe III results.  The average score was a 94% which has been the best effort on any of the three OAA Probes.  Great job!

We then completed our Chapter Nine Formative Pretest  which dealt with various types of probability.  Some of Chapter Nines ideas include:

1. terms such as: experiment, trial, outcome, sample space and event.
2. experimental vs theoretical probability
3. use of simulations
4. the Fundamental Counting Principle
5. permutations and combinations
6. independent and dependent events
7. odds

1. demonstrate a basic understanding for simple probability trials.
2. understand where one's strengths and weaknesses are in Chapter Nine.
