Class Topic: 04.18.12

In EDM today, students worked with setting up and solving proportions dealing with percents.  We also translated two word phrases into algebraic equations.

  1. identify key vocabulary, is and of, to help translate word phrases.
  2. set up proportions.  (MJ 304 and 305)
  3. use cross products to simplify and solve proportions.  (MJ 304 and 305)

In Pre-Algebra today, students reviewed their Guided Notes for Lesson 9.1: Probability from last night's homework.  We discussed experiments where the outcome would be impossible (0) or certain (1).  Also, students predicted theoretical outcomes for the rolling of six sided die.

  1. give the probability for various outcomes.
  2. understand various vocabulary terms: experiment, trial, outcome, sample space, event, probability, impossible and certain.
