Class Topics: 02.22.12

In EDM, students discussed problems from last night's Evening Practice.  We focused on the two word problems on Practice 1.4 specifically.  Later we watched a video that modeled how to both solve and graph inequalities in preparation for Lesson 1.5: Solving Simple Inequalities.  The vocabulary for the lesson was shared and defined: inequality, algebraic inequality, solution of an inequality and solution set.  Students worked in either collaborative pairs of with Mr. Giomini to complete Reteach 1.4.

Solving and Graphing Inequalities

for Evening Practice

In Pre-Algebra, students worked with Lesson 7.2: Ratios, Rates and Unit Rates.  We began the class by reviewing last night's Evening Practice.

During this lesson, we distinguished between rate, unit rate and unit price.  We analyzed the differences between the three understanding that a rate is a comparison of two quantities and a unit rate are rates in which the second quantity is 1.
