Pre-Algebra started at 7:00 for some of us today. Some students came in early to review material for tomorrow's quiz. In class, we integrated rational numbers into inequalities. From class discussions and work, I am seeing a comfort level with decimals, but fractions are giving some of us difficulty. Tomorrow morning, students are welcome to come in early again to review and work on some inequalities if needed.

ReplyDeleteWhen solving for x=17, with the function being y=2(3x-1), first you substitute the x with 17. That makes your problem y=2(3(17)-1. Second, you do 3(17), because it is first in the parenthesis. You get 51. Next, you do the subtract 1 next in the problem. 51-1=50. After this, you have y=2(50). When you multiply 50 by two, you get 100. So, as you can see, I got y=100.

I got my answer by setting up the problem which is y=2(3x-1)
You do the distrubitive property so you must multiply 2 by every thing in the parentheses so 2*3x=6x and 2*1 =2
Now the new problem is y=6x-2
+4 Since x is 17 you do 17 *6 which is
