Day 23: Math 6 - Distance on a Coordinate Plane / Math 6+ - Mid-point Quiz

Students in Math 6 worked with Lesson 2.5: Find Distance on the Coordinate Plane. In the lesson, students tied in their knowledge of absolute value from earlier in the topic and used it as the foundation for finding the distance on the coordinate plane. Here is a video that we used in class today to help with our lesson. (CLICK HERE)

Math 6+ students completed their Topic Two Mid-point Quiz.

Standards addressed in class today:
  • Math 6:
    • Understand signs of numbers in ordered pairs as indicating locations in quadrants of the coordinate plane; recognize that when two ordered pairs differ only by signs, the locations of the points are related by reflections across one or both axes.
  • Math 6+:
    • Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.
