Students in Math 6 and Math 6+ worked with calculating the area of various types of triangles. Mr. Giomini attempted to explain to students how the formula for the area of a triangle was derived from looking at squares and rectangles. This hopefully helps students attain a great understanding of the formula making them more fluent when it comes to utilizing it to solve real-world problems.
Today's lesson objective(s):
- find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes.
- apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
