In Math 6 today, Mr. Giomini spent time reviewing last night's evening practice with students. Lesson 6.6 was a nice extension of yesterday's work to help with writing equations to solve percent story problems.
Today's Lesson Objective(s):
Good view of skills up to the 13 minute mark.
Students in Math 6+ worked with more sales tax, tips, commission, and simple interest word problems.
Today's Lesson Objective(s):
- Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity); solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent. (6th Grade)
- Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. (7th Grade)
