Today in Math 6 - 1 & 3°, students began work with Concept Two: Integers and Rational Numbers. The focus was on integers, identifying a number's opposite, and absolute value.
During Math 6 - 2°, students use the class period to review skills in preparation for Tuesday's Topic One posttest.
Students in Math 6+, stretched yesterday's concept of integers and absolute value to include them into daily activities that they might find themselves involved with outside of school. Mr. Giomini allowed the students time to work on Khan skills relating to integers in class that more closely aligned to seventh grade.
- Negative Number Addition and Subtraction: Interpretation Problems
- Absolute Value to Find Distance
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables. (2°)
- understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values. (1, 3, & 7°)
- use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts. (1, 3, & 7°)
- recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line. (1, 3, & 7°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
- Math 6 - 1 & 3: Pages 2, 3 and 4
- Math 6 - 2°: Continue test preparation
- Math 6+: Pages 8, 9 and 10
