Today in Math 6, students in 1° and 3° reviewed the work from last night's evening practice. Class started with a story problem dealing with students needing to use either GCF or LCM to calculate an answer. From there, students worked in pairs to complete practice word problems. At the conclusion of class, correct answers were shared with the students.
During Math 6 - 2°, Mr. Giomini introduced Lesson 1.7: Simplifying Expressions. The focus of the lesson was combining like terms when looking at algebraic expressions. Students worked with Mr. Giomini on taking notes for workbook pages 43 - 45.
Math 6+ students worked on writing and solving equations from given situations.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- find the greatest common factor and least common multiple of two whole numbers. (1 and 3°)
- identify parts of an expression using mathematical terms (sum, term, product, factor, quotient, coefficient. (2°)
- simplify algebraic expressions by combining like terms. (2°)
- apply the properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions. (2°)
- write and solve equations from story problems. (7°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
