Class Topics: 02.09.15

In Common Core Math Six today, students completed a Quick Check dealing with graphing inequalities.  Students received their "Specialty Pizza" performance based task from last Friday.  An answer key was posted and students were encouraged to make inquiries if they had any regarding the task.

This week's performance based task, "Making Towels," was introduced to the students.  Five to ten minutes of independent work time was allowed to begin the task.   Mr. Giomini then reintroduced rates and ratios to the students.  During class, students were provided time to complete application based problems dealing with ratios.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
  1. understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities.
  2. use rate and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete...
  1. 15 minutes of purposeful practice on Khan Academy.

  1. Is the answer 35 total students. I got my answer by knowing that their are a total of 3 boys and 4 girls so I made a proportion like 3/4. Then I knew that they wanted 15 boys so you have to see what you multiply three by to get 15. Then answer would be 5, so if you multiply five to the top you must do it to the bottom. When you multiply 4 by 5 you would get 20 . Last you would just add 15 and 20, which you would then get 35.
