Class Topics: 10.03.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students completed a five question Socrative dealing with one-step equations involving multiplication and division from Chapter Two.  Next week, I will use the Socrative quizzes to review Chapter One content.

After checking pages twelve and thirteen from last night's Evening Practice, students were introduced to Lesson 3.4: Subtracting Integers.  This is one of the more challenging lessons of the chapter.  Mr. Giomini modeled Keep-Change-Change to the students to help with subtracting integers.

 


Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  • understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values.
  • use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation. 
  • recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating location on opposite sides of 0 on the number line.
