Lesson 2.11: Solving Equations with Addition and Subtraction was introduced and modeled by Mr. Giomini. During the lesson, students were encouraged to show their work no matter how easy the equation appeared to be to help lay the foundation for future more complex problems. Example problems include:
- 45 + y = 83, y =
- r - 15 = 27, r =
- q + 37 = 101, r =
- Gavin has sold 16 dozen tins of Boy Scout popcorn this week. This was 7 dozen more than he sold last week. Write and solve an equation to find how many dozen tins of popcorn he sold last week.
