Class Topics: 09.10.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students began class with a Socrative quiz dealing with exponents from yesterday's lesson while Mr. Giomini checked the Evening Practice from Tuesday night.

Lesson 2.3: Order of Operations was modeled and discussed using PEMDAS.  Students then applied the skill using page 72 in the class set of textbooks numbers eight through eighteen.  Once completed, students compared their answers with colleagues and also with the back of the textbook.

• compute fluently with multidigit numbers.
• identify the base and exponent when given an exponential notation.
• use the rules of PEMDAS to simplify mathematical expressions.

For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...

• complete pages seven and eight from Chapter Two.
