Class Topics: 09.30.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students received their Chapter Two Posttest back from Mr. Giomini.  Data was shared with the classes to show how students did as a whole on the posttest.

Mr. Giomini then introduced Chapter Three: Integers and Rational Numbers.  Before class concluded, Mr. Giomini laid the foundation for tomorrow's lesson with terms: opposite, integer, and absolute value.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...

• understand the absolute value of a rational number as its distance from 0 on the number line.
• interpret absolute value as magnitude for a positive or negative quantity in a real word situation.
•  For example, recognize that an account balance less than -30 dollars represents a debt greater than 30 dollars.

• complete Khan Skill: Finding Absolute Value.
• complete page six in Chapter Three.
