Class Topics: 04.22.14

In Common Core Math Six, students in and  began class by reviewing the Evening Practice.  Students were then divided into groups of two to review for tomorrow's Chapter Eleven Posttest.

During 2° students combined groups briefly to review test taking strategies for the Ohio Achievement Assessment in Mathematics.  Class was then divided to complete a mock test situation and administered a released test.

Students in 4° reviewed last night's Evening Practice.  Mr. Giomini introduced Lesson 11.7: Solving Multi-Step Inequalities by posting the question below for students to answer.  Once the question was discussed and deconstructed, students began their Evening Practice in class.

Maxwell orders at least 30 bottles of flea shampoo per month for his pet-grooming business.  His supplier charges $3 per quart bottle plus a $25 handling fee per order.  A competing supplier offers a similar product for $4 per quarter bottle plus a $5 handling fee per order.  The salesman for the competitor shows Maxwell that 10 bottles from his company would cost only $45 compared to $55 from Maxwell's current supplier.  Which supplier would you advise Maxwell to use?  Explain or show work to support your advice to Maxwell.
