In Common Core Math Six, students in 1 and 3° began class by reviewing the Weekend Practice. Before introducing and modeling Lesson 11.7: Solving Multi-Step Inequalities, Mr. Giomini gave the students the opportunity to show what they knew by attempting the following problem.
Mrs. Spagnola is a sales associate in a clothing store. Each week she earns $250 plus a commission equal to 3% of her sales. This week her goal is to earn no less than $460. Write and solve an inequality to find the dollar amount of the sales she must have to reach her goal.
During 2° students continued work in two groups. Mr. Giomini reviewed all four of the formulas for the students before administering a quiz.In Miss McGreer's group, students continued working with sets of data and how to calculate measures of central tendency. The class also analyzed graphs.
Students in 4° reviewed the Khan Skills from the Weekend Practice before Mr. Giomini introduced and modeled Lesson 11.6: Solving Inequalities with Multiplication and Division. In this lesson, students worked more with substituting their solution set into the inequality to prove that their answer(s) made the original inequality true.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
- 1 and 3° -
- read and write inequalities.
- graph inequalities on a number line.
- solve inequalities by multiplying and dividing.
- 2° -
- Gio's Group -
- calculate the surface area for prisms.
- calculate the surface for cylinders.
- McGreer's Group -
- explain the different measures of central tendency.
- determine which measure most accurately reflects a set of data.
- select an appropriate graph for a set of data.
- 4° -
- read and write inequalities.
- graph inequalities on a number line.
- solving inequalities by multiplying and dividing.
