Class Topics: 1.08.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 1, 3, and completed the Chapter Six Pretest.  Chapter Six - Percents, will take us beyond simply converting between fractions, decimals, and percents.  Students will calculate percent increases and decreases and well as use the formula I = P * r * t to determine interest, principal, rate, or time.

During , students completed the Chapter Five Pretest.  Chapter Five - Proportional Reasoning will look into ratio and proportions.  Calculators are accessible during this chapter.

Today's Learning Targets: The student will exhibit what they know about...
  • 1, 3, and -
    • generating equivalents fractions, decimals, and percents.
    • estimating percents.
    • finding the percent of a number.
    • solving one-step equations containing percents.
    • using an algorithm to compute percent change.
    • substituting values into a formula to calculate simple interest.
  • -
    • identifying, writing, and comparing ratios and rates.
    • generating equivalent ratios.
    • determining if two ratios are proportional.
    • solving proportions using multiple means.
    • using dimensional analysis to make unit conversions.
    • using ratios to determine if two figures are similar.
    • using similar figures to find unknown lengths.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
