Class Topics: 01.31.14

In Common Core Math Six, students in 1, 3, and  completed the Chapter Seven Pretest - Plane Geometry.  This chapter is a review a some fifth grade concepts.  The chapter is long consisting of eleven lessons and over 50 vocabulary terms.  Quizlet will aid you a great deal in the understanding of these terms.


Students in  worked with reviewing an old copy of the Chapter Five Posttest in preparation for Monday's Posttest.



Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° - Pretest skills that have not been taught in sixth grade yet.
    • identify, describe, measure, classify, and construct geometric plane figures.
    • identify angle relationships. 
    • use angle relationships including those formed by perpendicular lines and parallel lines with a transversal.
    • find the measure of angles in polygons.
    • use congruent figures and symmetry.
    • recognize, describe, and show transformations and tessellations. 
  • 2° -
    • write a ratio to compare two different items.
    • compare two ratios using a proportion.
    • simplify ratios when needed.
    • use dimensional analysis to solve multi-step conversions.
    • identify corresponding sides for two shapes.
    • calculate the missing value for a shape using a proportion.
    • use scale factor to determine missing values.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
    • complete Lesson 7.1 Problem Solving.
  • 2° -
    • complete the back side to the handout given in class.  
    • work on making corrections to your pretest in preparation for Monday's posttest.
