Class Topics: 01.16.14

In Common Core Math Six during 1, 3, and , students reviewed yesterday's Chapter Six Midpoint Quiz.  Mr. Giomini then introduced Lesson 6.5: Percent of Change.

The heart rate of a hibernating woodchuck slows from 80 to 4 beats
per minute.  What is the percent decrease of the woodchuck's
heart rate when hibernating?

During , students reviewed the Evening Practice with an answer key provided by Mr. Giomini. Students were then practiced more with Lesson 5.4: Dimensional Analysis.  This lesson is the most challenging of the chapter and caused us some mental pain.  To model this skill, we utilized a link that Miss McGreer found to help us with the different jumps in units.  Click here to use the link at home.

Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  •  1, 3, and 4° -
    • determine the percent increase or decrease.
    • divide whole numbers.
    • convert between fractions, decimals, and percents.
  •  -
    • set-up a proportion from given information.
    • make conversions between different units of measure.
    • solve word problems using dimensional analysis
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
  •  -
    • complete Lesson 5.3 Problem Solving.
