Class Topics: 09.27.13

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 1, 3, and reviewed translating word phrases into algebraic expressions from story problems.  Mr. Giomini then introduced Lesson 2.9: Combing Like Terms.  The textbook only models problems without the distributive property, but Mr. Giomini had students work with the distributive property as well.

Students in worked with Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM).  Mr. Giomini focused on pulling information from word problems when working with the two concepts
Today's Learning Goals: The students will be able to...
  • combine like terms to simplify an algebraic expression.  (1, 3, and )
  • use the distributive property to simplify an algebraic expression.  (1, 3, and )
  • determine which concept, GCF or LCM will correctly answer a story problem.  ()
For Weekend Practice, the student is expected to complete...
