In Common Core Math Six today, students in 1, 3, and 4° reviewed translating word phrases into algebraic expressions from story problems.  Mr. Giomini then introduced Lesson 2.9: Combing Like Terms.  The textbook only models problems without the distributive property, but Mr. Giomini had students work with the distributive property as well.

Combining Like Terms 2: Simplifying expression with like terms

 

Students in 2° worked with Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM).  Mr. Giomini focused on pulling information from word problems when working with the two concepts
