Class Topics: 04.26.13

In Math Six today, students reviewed their answers from last night's Evening Practice by comparing their work to Mr. Giomini's.  Lesson 8.7 - Using Proportions to Solve Percent Problems was introduced and modeled.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. identify the whole unit in situations involving percents.
  2. convert between percents and fractions.
  3. express ratios in words, as a fraction, with a colon and as a percent.
  4. use open proportions to model and solve percent problems.
  5. use a method to solve percent problems.
For Weekend Practice, the student is expected to...
  1. complete Study Link 8.7.  (CLICK HERE!!!)
In Pre-Algebra today, Mr. Giomini had the Evening Practice's answers posted to the board for students to check and then discuss with peers if questions still existed.  Students then began to review for the Chapter Ten Posttest which is on Tuesday, April 30th.

  1. solve one-step equations and inequalities. 
  2. solve two-step and multistep equations.
  3. graph inequalities.
  4. solve equations for a variable.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  1. make corrections to the Chapter Ten Pretest.
