Class Topics: 02.04.13

In Math Six today, students discussed their Probe II results which was completed on Friday.  Mr. Giomini discussed the positives and setbacks on the formative assessment.

  1. analyze their successes and mistakes after reviewing their results from Probe II.
  2. reflect on what mistakes where made and develop a plan to avoid those in the future.
For Evening Practice, students are required to...
  1. answer the two questions posted below.
Mrs. Demko has 24 microscopes, 48 petri dishes and 36 eye droppers.  She
wants to put the items into an equal number of groups without any leftover items.
Determine the number of groups and how many items will be in each group.

Cole needs to buy 7 apples, one for each of his teachers.  If apples are 5 for $0.45,  
how much will it cost Cole to buy seven apples?


In Pre-Algebra today, students worked with Lesson 7.3 - Analyzing Units.  During this lesson, students needed to provide a conversion factor and explain how to find whether 10 miles per hour is faster than 15 feet per second.

  1. use one or more conversions factors to solve the rate problems.
  2. cancel out units rates to get desired unit of measure.

  1. answers questions 1 - 10, 14, 15 - 21, 24 - 25 on pages 353 - 354.

  1. Mrs. Demko will have 6 packages in total. There will be 4 microscopes, 8 petri dishes, and 6 eye droppers in each package.

    To buy 7 apples, Cole will need $0.56.
