Class Topics: 01.18.13

In Math Six today, students reviewed their Evening Practice with Mr. Giomini.  Once that was complete, a question from the Unit Five Pretest was modeled for students.  Student then began working on Lesson 5.9: Parallel Lines.

Students in second period were also able to work in the computer lab to work on Khan Skills dealing with area and perimeter of triangles and quadrilaterals.  
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers.
  2. determine angle measures by applying definitions and properties of angles, triangles and quadrilaterals.
  3. identify congruent figures. 
For Weekend Practice, students are expected to...
  1. complete the Unit Five Khan Skills by Tuesday morning.

In Pre-Algebra today, students reviewed their Evening Practice with Mr. Giomini before beginning Lesson 6.9 - Surface Area of Cones and Pyramids.  Mr. Giomini modeled how to implement the formulas to solve these problems.  
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. develop a formula that can be used to calculate the surface area of a cone.
  2. apply the formula for finding surface area of a cone to real-world applications.
